Sri Lanka tea pilot
Uva District
One of the growing regions where the PLANet-ZERO pilot is running with smallholders and bought-leaf factories.
About this region
- High-grown district in the east of the central highlands.
- A dry-season wind gives Uva teas their distinctive character.
- A mix of estate and independent smallholder production.
- Seasonality is pronounced, which makes timing decisions matter more.
Regional characteristics are well established in the trade. What the pilot tests is whether better timing and quality decisions change the economics for growers here.
Part of the Sri Lanka tea pilot. We publish measured results only once they have been validated and the participants agree to publication.
